Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is EasyFeast?
A. EasyFeast is a subscription personal chef service. Each week, your personal chef will cook in your home and stock your fridge with two dinners for up to six people each, plus a bonus item (e.g., breakfast dish, snack, etc.), leaving you with a fridge stocked full of personalized meals and a spotlessly clean kitchen.
Q. What does it cost?
A. Our service fee starts at $250 per booking. If you elect to have your chef shop for you, you’ll be charged an additional $45 per week, plus the cost of groceries. You can also scale up to receive three family-style meals for $280.
Q. How many meals do I get?
Your chef will prepare two family-style meals for you. Each meal can serve 2, 4 or 6 people generously. This will leave you set with at least two nights’ worth of dinners for your household - plus, depending on the portion size you select, leftovers. Many clients report that the food is plentiful and lasts several days. You’ll also get a breakfast item, snack, or an extra side!
Q. What kind of food will my chef prepare for me?
A. We particularly specialize in preparing nutritious meals that appeal to the whole family (not just the adults!) and we love finding creative ways to help picky eaters get their vegetables. Our dishes are designed for dinner, but can also be great for lunch. If you're wondering if we can accommodate your cuisine preferences or dietary needs, please email us at hi@easyfeast.com. We'll do everything we can to accommodate you.

Q. Who is the chef who’ll be cooking for me?
A. Our chefs are talented culinary professionals who often have a decade or more of experience working as a personal chef or in a professional kitchen. We also prioritize hiring chefs who are professional, courteous and kind people who make clients feel immediately at ease inviting into their homes. We conduct a rigorous interview process that includes a cooking interview and a reference and background check. We decide whether or not a chef is EasyFeast quality based on a simple metric: would we want this chef to be the one who comes to our home to cook for us - for our family and loved ones? We only move forward if the answer is a resounding yes.
Q. Can you please explain how groceries will be handled?
A. We're able to deliver a high-end service at a reasonable price by asking our clients to be responsible for procuring their own groceries. (Don't worry, we'll give you a detailed shopping list!) That said, for a completely seamless experience, clients can pay an extra $45 and have their chef do all of the shopping and arrive with all of the groceries.
Q. How are the dishes packaged?
A. We will use whatever Tupperware you have. If you're wondering what types are best, here are our recommendations:
A set of tempered glass containers like these, because they can go straight from the fridge to the microwave or oven. There is some evidence that glass is the safest material for food storage, and they'll look really nice in your fridge too.
A set of plastic containers like these, because they are lightweight, seal easily and are microwave and dishwasher safe. Plus, the small containers are the perfect size for storing sauces and for packing up leftovers to take for lunch.
Ziploc bags work best for storing salads.
Q. Do I have to be home?
A. You do not need to be home during the service. We just recommend that you greet your chef the first time he or she arrives, so that you can show him or her around your kitchen and equipment.
Q. My kitchen is tiny/I don't even know if the oven works/I hardly have any cooking equipment. Can you accommodate me?
A. Tiny kitchen, no problem! It does, however, need to be functioning. That means a working oven, stovetop, sink and refrigerator.
You also need to have the following basic cooking equipment: baking sheets, blender, food processor, can opener, casserole dish, chef's knife, cutting board, grater, measuring utensils, mixing bowls, peeler, pots and pans, spatula, tongs and a strainer.
Plus, make sure to keep the following supplies in stock: Tupperware containers (a bunch of them!), Ziploc bags, aluminum foil, parchment paper and cleaning supplies (e.g., dish towels, soap, paper towels, sponges.)
Q. What geographic area do you serve?
A. We currently provide services within Manhattan, parts of Brooklyn, and the Boston suburbs.
Q. Can you accommodate my allergy/dietary restriction?
A. We are best suited to accommodate clients looking for low-carb, gluten-free, dairy-free, Kosher and/or vegetarian options. For all other allergies or dietary needs, please email us at hi@easyfeast.com to make sure that we can safely accommodate you.
Q. Should I tip my chef?
A. No, there is no need to tip your chef; the tip is already included in the service price. The best way to recognize outstanding service is to leave your chef a great review in the feedback survey you will receive each week.
Q. What is your cancellation policy?
A. If your plans change, you can cancel anytime up to 3 days prior to your regularly scheduled chef visit without penalty, though we greatly appreciate as much advance notice as possible. Cancellations made within the 3 day window will be charged the full service fee and the cost of any groceries that have already been purchased on your behalf. We do not require any long-term commitments; you can cancel your subscription at any time.
Q. Can you accommodate other schedules, such as bi-weekly or one-off services?
Please reach out to us if you are interested in an alternate arrangement, such as a one-off service or an every-other-week schedule. We’ll do our best to accommodate you.
Q. Can I try the service before I subscribe?
Yes! We invite prospective clients to do a trial with us before starting a subscription.
